Sales is Changing… Are You?
Everyone is hyping up AI talking about how it will replace our jobs. But this is the wrong way to think about your “job”.
Sales isn’t just one job. It’s a collection of dozens of micro-jobs that add up to hitting your quota. If you break down your role into all of these micro-jobs, you’ll find that 80% can already (or soon will be) done exclusively with AI. That leaves the other 20% of “jobs” to focus your human effort for greater leverage.
Breaking Down the Sales Role into Tasks
List Building
Cold Outreach
Scheduling Meetings
Call Preparation
Conducting Sales Calls
Follow-Ups & Nurturing
Drafting Proposals
CRM Updates & Reporting
Etc…
Most of these tasks aren’t actually selling, they’re operational. And AI can handle them.
Managing AI Agents Instead of Doing the Work
Right now, you might think, "I need to do all these tasks myself" or "I need more people on my team to handle the workload."
Instead, you need to shift your mindset to: "How do I deploy AI agents to do this work for me?"
In the future being able to “manage robots” will be more valuable than managing humans.
Instead of manually managing every task, you direct AI agents to execute your processes for you, freeing you up to focus on what actually will drive results.
AI Won’t Replace You, But Sales Reps Who Use AI Will Outperform Those Who Don’t
The best sales reps of tomorrow won’t be the ones working the hardest. They’ll be the ones who’ve built the best AI-powered systems to handle their workload.
Combining automation tools like make.com, n8n.io, or zapier.com with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and training them on your data/workflows is not very expensive. If your company won’t pay for it, you should just pay out of your own pocket. For $50-$100/mo you can automate 80% of your job… Seems like a pretty good deal to me!
Here is a short intro video into what AI agents are. I highly recommend just going down a rabbit hole on this topic. We use agents a ton at Succession and help other companies implement these tools. They really are a game changer in both efficiency and effectiveness.
